A Ball Date

The night of the Demon Hunter’s Guild Ball was coming and Yuma was excited. All the greatest demon hunters in the city were going to be there along with the chairmen. Yuma saved the date even though it was several weeks away.

During the week of the Ball, Yuma lost a bet and had to remain a girl for the rest of the week. Friday came, and Lozen barely remember on that night that the Ball was on that night. She called all of her male friends that she could, since the Ball was a couples-only dance, but none of them were available.

“Dammit, there’s no one to take me to the Ball?” Lozen cried. “And why am I crying? I should be pissed off. I had to take that stupid bet!”

Róise heard Lozen crying and decided to go to Beate, who was in human form, so she could do something to cheer her up. Beate agreed and headed to Lozen’s house. Once in her room, she asked her, “Hey Lozen, why are you crying?”

Lozen answered, “I want to go to the Demon Hunter’s Guild Ball but it’s couples only, and none of my male friends are available. And the worst part is that I don’t even know why I’m crying. I shouldn’t be that sad but-”

“Hmm…”

Lozen cried some more. Then she heard a male voice say, “Cheer up Lozen. I’ll take you to the Ball.”

She turned around to find a handsome man with short brown hair, a charming smile, and a tuxedo in Beate’s place holding out his hand to her. She blushed as she found him very attractive. “Beate? Why did you-“

“Isn’t it obvious?” Beate helped her up and came closer to her. “Because I love you.” He closed his eyes and kissed her. She closed her eyes and enjoyed it. They unlocked from their kiss and a small smile grew on Lozen’s face. “So, you want to go with me?” Beate asked.

“Of course, let me change,” Lozen told him.

He waited outside her room for her, and when she came out she was wearing a green strapless dress with green stilettos. “How do I look?” she asked him.

“Beautiful,” he said.

On the way, Lozen asked, “So what would you like to go by in this form?”

“Burkhard. It means ‘strong protection,’ like a fort or a castle.”

“I love it.”

Once they were at the front door, they were asked by a security guard for their names and affiliation.

Lozen told him, “I’m not actually part of the Demon Hunter’s Guild, but I should be under Yuma Thundermoon’s trusted contacts. Look for Lozen; and this gentleman is my date, Burkhard.”

The security guard checked the database and found Lozen in Yuma’s trusted contracts, though according to the file she had no last name that was given to them. “Okay, you two are clear. Enjoy the night together,” he said.

“We will.”

They danced among the other attendants. Many of which were either demon hunters or relatives of demon hunters. They even saw the MacTavishes. While they were dancing Lozen said, “This is weird.”

“Weirder than a demon and a human falling in love?” Burkhard replied.

“I guess not.”

After a few meals and more dancing, everyone’s attention was brought to the stage in the back as an old, fat man came to the podium on it.

“Whoa, Head Chairman August Vipond.”

“How old is he?”

“One-hundred and fifty one.”

Head Chairman August Vipond made his speech, in an English accent, “My fellow members of the Demon Hunter’s Guild. Tonight is a very special night. More than Ball, I will be presenting the Demon Hunter’s Awards. But before I do that, I’d like to say some words if you will bother to lend this old man your ears. First, once again, vampire activity has been kept to a minimum. I only wish that demon activity in general was declining. Next, thank you all that participated in defending Earth against the demon horde that sought to bring about a seizure of it. Lastly, I am retiring from my position and bestowing upon my daughter, Head Chairwoman Helen Vipond.”

An old lady in front walked up on stage and shook his hand. “Thank you, Father,” she said in an English accent.

“Make me proud, Helen.”

The old lady returned to her position and August finished speaking.

“Now I present the awards. First, for the highest number of evil demons felled, we have a tie between Yuma Thundermoon and Beate MacTavish,” he held up a gold trophy for them.

There was plenty of applause but neither Yuma nor stepped forth to claim their prize, so it went to the runner-ups, Bach and Tatiana Ollander.

After the other prizes were awarded, the Ball continued, but some went home early. Among them were Lozen and Burkhard.

While they were walking, Burkhard asked Lozen, "You sure you didn't want that trophy?"

She answered with, "Yeah, besides, we both got much better prizes."

Once they were in Lozen’s room, they decided that it was best if Burkhard stayed with her until the bet expired.

Lozen changed into her green transparent nightgown while Burkhard magically changed his tuxedo into pajamas.

“So what do you think?” Lozen asked.

“You look sexy.”

“Thanks.”

They both hopped into Lozen’s bed and shared one more kiss before they went to sleep.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another day, Yuma approached Master MacTavish in his house and revealed, "Master MacTavish, Beate and I are dating."

Master MacTavish just laughed with joy. "Good on you, mate," he said as he tapped Yuma's shoulder with his fist. "Yuma, I am very happy to hear this. I've made it no secret that I think of you as a son, and the possibility of you marrying her fills me with joy. I'd be a very gleeful man to have you as a son."

Yuma grew a large smile on his face, the thought of having a mother and father again, along with siblings, having a family again, it seemed to good to be true. But Yuma retained hope as he had a chance to regain what he had once lost.
In this story, Lozen finally gets a boyfriend, which means that once she's back to being Yuma, he'll have a girlfriend. And she's a demon interestingly enough, no? Well, he needed a girlfriend that's willing to sacrifice her gender when he loses his.

This is also my 800 deviation special and the only special that is in fact canonical.

Fun fact: Master MacTavish brought Yuma to all of the father/son event his fellow Scotsmen held. They had to dress in traditional clothing which meant that Yuma had to wear kilts. However, he hates them as they make him feel girly.
