Mother?


One day, Yuma and Yuna (age 23) were just sitting about their home, just lounging about, when they heard a knock on the front door. Yuma went over and opened it to find an older, slightly taller, Apache woman with blonde hair, she could pass off as a blonde Inuit, and a sort of motherly figure, standing right in the middle of the frame. “Can I help you?” he asked.

“May I come in? I have much to tell,” the Apache woman spoke.

“Sure.”

Yuma allowed the Apache woman to enter. She took a seat on the sofa in the living room, next to Yuna. Yuma sat down on the other side.

“Who are you?” Yuna asked.

“I am your mother.”

“What? Y-you aren’t dead?” Yuma questioned.

“No, no. I can live far longer than a normal human,” the Apache woman stated.

“So why have you been gone for so long?”

“You’re not going to like this, but...”

The Apache woman started morphing. She began looking younger but at the same time less human. She transformed into her true form: a beautiful succubus, who looks like she could pass off as Yuma and Yuna's older sister.

“What in the hell is going on!?” Yuma yelled.

“Well, you see-“

Before the succubus could finish her sentence, a similar voice from behind shouted, “Backstabber!”

They all turned around to see an identical-looking succubus was behind them at the door. She rushed over to them and pointed a finger at the other succubus.

“You would dare steal my children!”

“What is happening here?” Yuna asked of the succubus next to her.

“That is my evil twin sister. She will make you her brain-washed minions of her own design.”

“Liar! She’s the evil twin, not me. She’s the reason I had to go into hiding.”

“What?”

“Hold it!” Yuma shouted. “I know how to settle this. What did my great-grandfather call me when I was little? What was his special nickname for me? I know I've been left with him before.”

The succubus on the left answered, “Chepito,” and hugged Yuma.

He hugged her back, sneakily took a knife from the holster on his vest’s underside, and stabbed the succubus in the heart. He then spoke to her, “Wrong answer.”

“Bastard!”

Yuma drove the knife further into the succubus’s heart until she was finally killed and dissolved into nothingness. Then he turned to the remaining succubus and demanded, “I want a name, and answers.”

“I am Lilian, but you may call me ‘Mom’ or 'Shimaa.' As for answers, yes, you did kill the evil twin and as impossible as it may sound, your father did fall in love and have kids with a demon, just as your great-grandfather did before him. If you don’t believe me, take a look at Mother-in-law’s pictures of her when she and her siblings were kids. You’ll find at least one photo of a succubus.”

Yuna believed her, but Yuma did not. So he ran upstairs to his grandmother’s room and poked through her photos. It took a bit of time but he did in fact find one that contained his great-grandfather, a succubus (his great-grandmother), and his grandmother and her siblings. He headed back down to the living room and sat in sheer disbelief.

“How could this have happened?”

Lilian explained, “Not all demons are evil. Some of us just want to escape Hell and live peaceful lives. Of course, thankfully for me, generations of my lineage had already been living on Earth. Moving on, my sister committed many heinous acts in my name. I had to go into hiding. As for your great-grandfather, he was tasked with eliminating Grandma Lilitu. She waited for him to strike, but he took pity on her instead. Together they started a family, but unfortunately, they could not stay on the Reservation for long. Others caught wind of what she was and so they had to move. Eventually, they ended up in this city. Then, after you were born, my sister’s actions forced me to go into hiding, which was on the same day that your father died if I heard correctly. But I grew tired of those years so I finally decided to come home. You know the rest.”

“Well, I’m Yuna Thundermoon, and this is my brother Yuma Thundermoon.”

“Yes, I know all about you two.”

“Even about Lozen?”

Yuna snapped her fingers to conjure her magic, transforming Yuma into his female form, Lozen.

“Okay, except that.”

“Dammit Yuna!”

“It’s all right. I love you all the same.”

They all hugged. Lozen cried tears of joy at the thought of having her mother back again. She asked, “You won’t die, will you? Losing Shiichoo, Grandpa, Shitaa', it was all too much. I don’t want to go through that again.”

“Do not worry, Lozen. I’ll always be here.”

“Oh, there’s one more person you should meet. But first...”

Yuna turned Lozen back into Yuma, who proceeded to shiver, shake, and gain labored breathing for a few moments.

“What is this?” Lilian asked.

“I have a phobia of being turned into a girl. My fear is that one of these days I will be turned into one permanently,” Yuma answered.

“Oh boy, then you won’t want to hear this, but you must know. It’s an anomaly, but when a succubus and an incubus have children, the girls are pure succubus while the boys are pure incubus.”

“What exactly are you saying?” Yuma questioned with worry.

“Yuma, should your demon blood ever awaken, you will be turned into a succubus forever. Granted such a case has never actually happened, but with your luck, you could be the first. Still, I believe the reason it hasn’t already happened is because of the divine DNA in you. It’s been holding back the demon.”

“Yuna, while I take this all in, would you please introduce her to Róise?”

“Yeah, good idea.”

Yuna did so as Yuma lied down on the sofa to take in all this information. It was nice having his mother back, but he feared the day his demon blood should take over. He hoped that day would never come.
